why We are different
Upward Personal Finance works as a team with our clients to establish a plan and accomplish goals. We recognize that you likely have time and schedule restraints, not to mention overwhelming feelings of taking on your financial plan by yourself. That's where we come in. Our business model is built around our clients in several ways:
- We are a fiduciary. This means we always place our clients’ needs above our own. See our signed oath here.
- We do not sell financial products. We do not earn commissions. This business model allows us to “shop” for our clients based on their specific needs and goals.
- We have flexible business hours and can meet at your home, office, or other agreeable location. We also do Google Hangouts or Skype meetings if that’s easiest for you.
Why we do what we do
Kasey Ring is the president and founder of Upward Personal Finance. She established the firm around the concern that people just starting out or who don’t have large portfolios to manage are often times ignored by traditional financial advisors and planners. However, getting started early is critical to lifelong financial success. While working with high-net-worth clients for years in the banking and financial services industry, it became clear to Kasey that those who need the most help are not getting it and those with big balances and portfolios have several advisors and institutions begging for their business. Upward Personal Finance was born from the idea that financial planning isn’t just for the wealthy pre-retiree and should be accessible and affordable for younger and/or middle-class clients. With flexible business hours and pricing models, Upward Personal Finance sets clients off on a great financial path with the service and education needed to carry well into retirement.
Kasey, her husband, and two sons live in Heber City, Utah. They love the mountain lifestyle, and you can find them on the slopes in Park City during the winter when skiing and snowboarding are part of the family ritual. During the summer months, it’s all about boating on the nearby Jordanelle Reservoir. Growing up in California and graduating from San Diego State University were great experiences for Kasey, with lots of fun memories still there. However, when asked by friends and family when she would return to California, her response was always, “How about never." They've since stopped asking. Kasey has now lived in Utah for more than 20 years.
